About Mary: Owner
Mary fell into the world of romance novels during the summer of 2012, and preceded to complete 434 historical romance novels within one year. She started Buried Under Romance to share her love of the genre and its authors, and is happy to have expanded the blog family since then. Post fall 2014 when Mary became a busy college student, she rarely blogs but remains active on Facebook with authors and tries to think of ideas to give away more books to appreciative readers.
Due to increasing workload, I am not taking any review requests at the moment, unless your book is on Netgalley/Edelweiss (then I might consider it). If you want to be featured on Buried Under Romance, and your book is historical romance/erotica, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. All other requests sent to me will be ignored.
I am, however, welcome to beta read for authors. 🙂 I’ve been a beta reader for Ella Quinn, Maggi Andersen, Sophie Barnes, Evangeline Holland, and more. Contact me at the above email address.
Our lovely reviewers!
I started to love reading as my mom shared the complete works of L. Frank Baum. We would read each night and it just grew from there. I read anything I could get my hands on and was the wallflower happy to be on the sidelines with a book. I loved romance stories and then as I had children my reading changed to books to share with them. I came back to Historical Romance when my mom became ill and the collective works of Julia Quinn were sitting on her shelf.
I fell into reviewing through a friend on Facebook. I fell into co-authoring Buried Under Romance with Mary and have loved it. As she gets busier with college I get busier with blogging and meeting the authors and readers has been fantastic. It is wonderful to be able to share my love of reading with others and to be able introduce readers to new authors is very rewarding.

I have always been fascinated by books and authors. My grandmother wrote children’s stories and books and I sat by her side many hours and watched her write (in longhand!). Each time she finished a short story or a chapter of a book, she would read it to me. Somehow I felt I was writing with her.
I love to read most genres, and my love of romance novels started in junior high when I discovered Betty Cavanna. From Betty, I went to Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney. In the past I have read mostly contemporary novels, and my favorite authors are Luanne Rice, Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts and Kristin Hannah. I’m just now becoming acquainted with the authors of Historical Romance, and I am enjoying the genre and finding new elements in each book to interest me.
On a personal note, I have been married for 34 years, and we have two married daughters and three grandchildren. I also enjoy our pets, travelling, movies, music and watching football (Go Broncos!). I just retired from teaching so I’m looking forward to finding new passions, as well as catching up on my TBR list! There’s a book in me somewhere, too. I’m sure of it.
My name is AnnMarie, and I am happily married, and living in South Wales in the UK with my husband, grown up daughter and our fur-baby Miss Belly.
I have had a love of reading from a very young age when I lived in Australia, and romance books have been a favourite since high school when I used to read the Sweet Dreams series by Bantam Books. Since then my taste in books has grown, but I will always consider Historical Romance my favourite genre. Paranormal Historical romance running a close second. I do however read to review contemporary romance as well.
Ever since buying my first Kindle and discovering Indie authors I have had a love of reviewing books with the hope that other readers will be inspired to read a book that I have enjoyed. I was invited last year to be a reviewer on this blog and I jumped at the chance. I have plenty of free time due to ill health, therefore I have a lot of time to read books which makes this blog the perfect place for me.
I learned to read, and I haven’t stopped since. I like most literary styles, however often it is the quality of the writing that will keep me coming back to an author. I guess that Jane Austen spoiled me, as she was the first romance author I read; not bad for beginnings!
When I open a new book, what is of utmost importance to me is to be seduced, to be enchanted, to be swept away in another time, another place, to be a part those characters’ lives for a little while. I hadn’t realised the significance of reviewing books until only a few years ago, and I consider it a privilege to be able to share my reading experience with other readers. It is also an honour to be part of this blog along with the other dedicated readers and fine ladies at Buried Under Romance.
Reading is a pleasure that is easy to fulfill and which brings many rewards. There are still so many books to be read and enjoyed, many that will be forever cherished and new ones to be discovered every day.
I was raised loving reading as both my parents are avid readers and storytellers. I grew up on everything from Brer Rabbit to Pollyanna ( I still have the entire set). It was Victoria Holt though that hooked me on romance in my middle school years. Though a voracious reader as a student, unfortunately when I became a teacher, I had very little time for reading except for what I could cram in my short summers. I did however get to be reacquainted with children’s books and young adult novels through my children where we observed our nightly reading ritual well into their school years. Once I retired from teaching, I picked up reading again with that same childhood fervor. I contacted a favorite author of mine about my love for her books and she graciously put me in touch with a blogger in charge of her “street team”. And the world of reviewing was revealed to me! It sort of spiraled from there and it has been such a fun journey getting to share my love for reading (especially romance) with people who love it as much as I do.
My love of books started as soon as I was able to read. Even as a child, I remember taking a stack of library books with me on vacation. My reading journey took me into the worlds of Victoria Holt, Mary Stewart, and Phyllis Whitney, then on to Georgette Heyer and regencies. Next came the bodice rippers, then a variety of historical sagas, horror, and suspense, until I found my true love – historical romance. I love to read them, and I love to talk about them. I look forward to sharing some of my thoughts here on Buried Under Romance.
