When half–wolf shifter Frankie Newman receives an e-mail from a family member she didn’t know existed, a secret is revealed: as a child, Frankie witnessed her father killing her mother…and then himself. Frankie was torn from her pack by her mother’s human relatives, and the trauma was erased from her memory. Realizing that she’s been lied to her entire life, she’s never felt more alone. Until she catches the scent of an old friend—warmly familiar and intoxicating.
Trick Hardy, alpha wolf of the Phoenix Pack, can sense the rush of mutual attraction when he sees Frankie again. He knows immediately that she’s his true mate. But he also knows that, given her fragile state, he needs to tread with care—no matter how fierce his surging desires.
As aroused as Frankie is by Trick’s darkly dominant air and simmering desire, her priority right now is her past—not her future, no matter how tempting. But as more secrets emerge and Frankie’s life is threatened, Trick must do everything he can to keep her close and safe. After all, it’s their destiny.

Francesca, aka Frankie, Newman knows a lot about her mother but not much about her father as he is the reason that she grew up with her grandparents after, according to them he killed her mother then himself. However, the truth could be something different then what Frankie has been told by her grandparents. When a member of the pack that her mother and father belonged to contacts her due to one pack member being on her deathbed, will Frankie go and see if she can get some answers? Could this meeting just bring more questions? Or will it be a chance for a new chapter in Frankie’s life? Then again, what will her grandparents and uncle say?
Trick Hardy is the very definition of an alpha male. He has for all intents and purposes given up hopes of finding his mate, but when he sees Frankie at a meeting with her Aunt, he knew that Frankie was his true mate. He didn’t want to freak her out by telling her that right away and he promised her Aunt he wouldn’t do that. He did, however, make sure that she knew he wasn’t going anywhere and that she was important to him, he let her set the pace but when something threatens to harm her all bets are off.
This book is full of adventure, romance, suspense, and a bit of deceit with a twist of empowerment. The way that the characters play off one another is just the best, I could read this book repeatedly. Mrs. Wright knows just how to bring the readers into the book as if they were characters in the book the whole time. Mrs. Wright has found another great fan in this reader and I can’t wait to read more from her.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
