Five years later, Tansy comes home, a sadder and wiser woman. Despite his anger, Beck finds it hard to avoid her and her adorable little daughter-especially with all the busybodies of Misty Bottoms going out of their way to throw him and Tansy together, hoping a lingering spark will reignite their enduring flame...

PICTURE PERFECT WEDDING is the third novel in the delightful Magnolia Brides series by Lynnette Austin. It is a story of second chance love set in the small town of Misty Bottoms. It’s also a welcomed return visit with the wonderful townsfolk who were introduced in the first two novels, and the friends who are working together to build a successful wedding business.
The stars of this story are Tansy Calhoun and Beck Elliot who were high school sweethearts. They planned to get married when Tansy returned from college, but after her father’s death, her grief led her to a drunken night with another man. She totally broke Beck’s heart when she ended up pregnant and married to the father of her daughter. The marriage was totally loveless and Tansy’s husband had a gambling problem, so Tansy left and took Gracie to live in Misty Bottoms where she felt safe.
Beck was understandably bitter towards Tansy when she first returned, but they seemed to be thrown together at every turn. The attraction was still there, but even with the support of everyone in town, they would both need to get over pain they’ve endured before searching for their own happily ever after.
The characters in this story were wonderful. Even though it was hard to like Beck at first because he was snippy and rude, it was easy to understand why. When he mellowed and started to recognize that he still needed Tansy in his life, he became very thoughtful and caring. He was especially loving towards Tansy’s daughter Gracie, the child that should have been his. Tansy was also a strong character. She made no excuses for her actions, but she fought hard to put her life back together after her mistakes. She was a loving mom who always put her sweet little daughter first.
The story was well-written, and blended well with the first two books in the series. I’d read the first two books so it’s hard for me to judge, but I feel that there was enough background info given in this book to allow it to be a good standalone read also. I’m looking forward to the next installment and to revisit Tansy, Beck and the other good people of Misty Bottoms to see how they are doing.
