To have and to hold from this day forward...
Wedding bells are ringing in the charming town of Christmas, but not for Vivian Westfield. She's just had her heart trampled under the cowboy boots of Chance McBride and lost her dream job at a big-city newspaper. But when she returns for a wedding, she stumbles on a story that could resurrect her career. First, though, she'll have to deal with the handsome man standing in her way... and a still-burning flame that's too hot to ignore.
Chance recognizes trouble when he sees it. He just didn't expect to find it in the first-class cabin on the flight home for his father's wedding. Yet there she is, as gorgeous as ever. Vivi dared Chance to want things he knew he could never have. It's why he left her. But Christmas's meddling matchmakers have them firmly in their sights. So if they want to survive the next week, they'll have to play the part of an adoring couple—an irresistible charade that may give them a second chance at the real thing...

WEDDING BELLS IN CHRISTMAS is the latest novel in the Christmas, Colorado series by Debbie Mason. It is a delightful story of a second chance at romance in the idyllic small town of Christmas. There are characters from the previous novels in this story so that the town maintains its identity, but I had no trouble reading this novel as a standalone book even though I hadn’t read any of the others.
Vivi Westfield was living the exciting life of a crime reporter in the big city until things went wrong in one of her investigations and she was demoted to writing the advice to the lovelorn column. If that wasn’t bad enough, she spent an incredible week with a handsome detective, Chance McBride, only to have him leave abruptly without even saying goodbye.
Chance McBride was working in the city because he couldn’t bear to stay in Christmas any longer. The small town held memories of his wife and unborn daughter he couldn’t deal with. He blamed himself for their deaths when their car crashed on a snowy mountain road, and when spending time with Vivi presented the opportunity of finding love again, he couldn’t cope. He did the only thing he thought he could do: he left.
When Vivi received an airline ticket from a family friend to fly first class to Christmas to attend a wedding, she was excited to see her sisters and friends again. She wondered, however, if she would run into Chance since he was also from Christmas, and if she did see him, how would she handle it. She didn’t need to wonder long as Chance also boarded the plane and sat in the seat next to her. A matchmaker was obviously at work, and sparks between them were flying before they landed at their destination. But could they keep the sparks alive?
Take the possible rekindling of a romance and add a wedding, a mystery and wonderful characters in a small town, and you have an enjoyable story. The characters of Vivi and Chance are realistic and likeable. I was cheering for them to get all the way in spite of various obstacles presented to them. The supportive characters were wonderful and the town of Christmas was practically another character on its own.
I had a great time in Christmas, and I’m planning to go back to read the other books in the series as soon as possible.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
