Trick…or wicked treat!
It was a devastating dirty trick—Joey Silvia just found out her boyfriend of two years is married. What. A. Dick. Joey knows her best chance to get over one guy is to get under another. Of course, heading home to her family's remote cabin in Oregon poses some challenges in the "available men" department…until she discovers this cabin comes with its own hot handyman!
Holy crap, Chris Steffensen. When did her brother's best friend turn into a hard-bodied pile of blond-bearded hotness? He's the perfect Halloween treat—and a surprisingly dirty rebound guy. For a couple of weeks, anyway. Except that Chris has other ideas…like proving to Joey that this blast from the past is a whole lot more than a naughty Halloween hookup.

Joey Silvia is on her way from Hawaii to Oregon for her brother’s wedding when she decides to make a stop in LA to surprise her co- worker/boyfriend. But the surprise is on her when his wife answers the door. Following the advice of her best friend, Joey decides to have a hot rebound fling with the first guy she meets. This seems to be her day for surprises though as the first guy she meets is the handyman renovating her family’s cabin. And he’s no random stranger either. He’s Chris Steffensen, the high school best friend of her and her brother. And man, has he changed! Can she enjoy the next two weeks in an all sex, no love, no relationship fling? Or is she setting herself up for heartbreak again?
I fell in love with the writing of Tiffany Reisz when I read her Original Sinners series and The Bourbon Thief. All unbelievably amazing and intense. I couldn’t wait to see what something more lighthearted of hers would be like. What a treat! Though completely different from her earlier books, her unique voice still shines through.
Joey is hurt and angry when she finds out her boyfriend of 2 years is married. Her best friend suggests that the best way to get over one man is to get under another. Still, Joey is shocked when she realizes the handyman she was ogling is a childhood friend. Gone was the scrawny stoner kid and in his place was a strong, confident, beautiful man. Why not make herself feel good and Chris feel good, and in the process forget her cheating boyfriend existed? Just sex and friendship. For Chris, Joey had been his high school crush. Sure, she was his best friend’s sister but that didn’t stop him from having fantasies about her. But now, here she was, and it seemed those fantasies might just come true. But as the 2 week “fling” progresses, it doesn’t feel like just sex any more to Chris. He was falling in love with Joey already. Again. Joey loves the way Chris makes her feel but she can’t let herself get used to it. If she did, she’d just get hurt again when she has to go back to Hawaii.
What an absolute fun story to read with humor, exquisite sex, and a delightful romance. The characters were vibrant and funny, and the story is full of sexy, flirtatious banter. This story had me chuckling out loud and then melting as I read the steamy love scenes. There’s just something about the way Tiffany Reisz tells a story! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
