In the new novel by the #1 New York Times bestselling “queen of paranormal romance,” (J.R. Ward) a wounded warrior and a woman on the run find salvation, passion and unimaginable danger in the ghostly darkness of the Carpathian Mountains… He wasn’t civilized or tame. He had his own code and he lived by it.
Monk. Bounty hunter. Vampire slayer. Andre Boroi has spent centuries battling the undead, holding out against the dark with honor. But now, gravely wounded by master vampire Costin Popescu, Andre will be easy to track—his spilled blood marking the killing trail for Popescu and his hungry band of underlings. Andre’s only chance is to disappear into the gray mist of the Carpathians. To wait. To hope. She had a healing touch and a scent that was his lifeblood. In the mountains in search of a precious crystal, geologist Teagan Joanes suddenly finds herself hunted by those she once trusted. Then she comes across the warrior—wounded, wanting and irresistible. Andre has been craving her for an eternity: his lifemate. Her warmth envelops him. Her scent pulsates. And with every beat of her heart, Teagan surrenders to a passion she can’t possibly comprehend. Now they are bound by destiny, but is it enough to keep them safe from a stalking, relentless darkness that threatens to swallow them alive?

How much did I enjoy this book? So far in my reading experience I haven’t enjoyed a book as much as I did Dark Ghost. Mrs. Feehan has a great gift and an amazing ability that I wish I possessed. From the very first page the reader gets sucked into another world so far away that you fear finding your way home only to look up and realize that you’re in your jammies and sitting in your favorite chair.
Tegan Joanes is a beautiful and adventurous woman who will always look for the good in a person until they prove to her that there isn’t any good in them. While trying to find a way to help her grandmother who has raised her and her sisters she finds herself in a very bad situation with someone who she called a friend. After being beaten she gets away from him, only to find a dark cave where she feels a man in need of her healing touch. All her life Tegan has seen herself as just ordinary compared to the beauty of her sisters but when Andre looks at her and tells her how beautiful she is to him; she is afraid to believe him.
After a brutal battle between a Master vampire and his minions Andre Boroi, heads to ground in order to heal himself in the comfort of the soil that has healed him in the past but this time it was different, he didn’t go fully underground. The pull of his life mate near brought him back to the land of the “living”. Andre knows that since he found her he will do just about anything to keep her with him no matter how much she protests.
The chemistry between Tegan and Andre isn’t something that you can dismiss. They flow together so well that, no matter how annoyed you get (from a female prospective) with Andre you can’t help but turn the page and see if Tegan will set him straight. So many times in reading this amazing book I have stopped reading just to get over how Andre treats Tegan like she is so fragile and can’t handle herself, granted the circumstances that led her to him aren’t the best he finally found the one person who can keep him in line and who comes to love him.
Mrs. Feehan, keep doing what you do. You have a true gift and I can’t wait to read more of these wonderful books of yours.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
