A Taste of Seduction is the 5th book in the ‘Disgraced Lords’ series by Bronwen Evans. You don’t have to have read any of the other books in the series, but it’s beneficial to read them because you will appreciate more just how evil the villain is that runs through the series.
This is the story of Lady Evangeline Stuart. Five years ago she was madly in love with Hadley Fullerton, second son of the Duke of Claymore. They were so in love with each other that they made plans to elope to Gretna Green. Her mother would never let her marry a second son, she wanted her to marry a Lord so that his money could save their home and keep her precious son in a style he was accustomed to before she gambled much of their money away.
Before they had a chance to elope, Hadley received a missive from Evangeline telling him she changed her mind and decided she would marry a rich Viscount that her mother introduced her to. Hadley was heart broken and it changed his life. He vowed never to give his heart to anybody again, and over the years kept many mistresses. Better to have a woman who has no expectations of him, and one he has no worry of losing his heart to.
It’s 5 years later and Hadley is having to give up his latest mistress. He made a promise to his brother that he would marry his friend’s daughter when he turned 30, and that time was coming up. What he didn’t expect was for Evangeline to come back into his life. She is now a widow and she is back in London asking about him, and his marital status. He is fuming that she has such a cheek looking for him when she turned he back on him before to marry for wealth. What he doesn’t expect is for their first meeting to go as it does. She wants to have an apology from him! What on Earth for? He’s done nothing wrong, or has he?
Will the two of them overcome what happened 5 years ago, can they rekindle their love or has too much damage been done?
Alongside the romance of this story there is also the continuing saga of the woman who is determined to make the sons of the Lords who ruined her life, pay for it. Her target in this book is of course Hadley. The sons, also known as the Libertine Scholars have to stop her before she gets to him. Hadley is even more worried now that Evangeline could be in the villain’s spotlight too. How can he keep her safe?
I love this whole series of books, and with each one the romantic story is beautiful, and the evil one’s attempts at revenge get meaner and meaner. Can she ever be stopped? This book, like all in the series are an exciting read with mystery, suspense, love and passion. I can’t recommend them enough.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
